Leukemia Fund-Raiser on April 19 in Hermosa Beach

Angela Park and her Team in Training friend Courtney Gillette are putting together a fund-raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Thursday April 19 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The event has a $20 cover charge and a portion of drink sales will go toward the event. The event will feature a DJ and two bands, drink specials, free hors d’oeuveres. There will be a silent auction including a week stay in a villa in Palm Springs valued at $1500. 75% of money raised will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and the remaing 25% will go toward the training and program. Manhattan Beach Middle School is presenting “Fools”

Hermosa Beach celebrating 100 years

Hermosa Beach is beginning the Centinnial Events on Sunday January 14, 2007. There will be a ribbion cutting ceremony at 2;30pm at 710 Pier Ave. west of the community center.

State of the City Mayoral Address at the Beach House at 5:00

Hermosa Beach’s birthday party will be at Pier Plaza at 6:30pm featuring live music and fireworks.

Little League in Manhattan Beach starts special needs team

Bill and Rose Hein are reviving the city’s Challenger Little League team, a sports program for special needs children. The couple are trying to organize two Challenger teams that would play each other.

The program is set up for girls and boys in age from 5 to 18 are eligible to participate. The games are coach-pitched and voluteer high school students will buddy up with palyers to help them make the plays and run the bases.
